It is with a heavy heart, yet incredible excitement for the future, that we are announcing the retirement of The 80sRewind Show with James Allen. The final episode, which also celebrated the show’s 5th anniversary, took place on Friday, 8/7/2015.
To cap on an amazing 5 years, we bring you this video in which James tells us a little about the technology that drove his show.
James recorded the footage for a more elaborate production to promote last year’s Adobe ColdFusion Summit. Alas, through no fault of James, things didn’t go as planned. All’s well that ends well, as we wound up creating this promotional video, which is one of our favorites.
I couldn’t let James’ excellent technical presentation go to waste. Thus, in thinking about how to give homage to the show, I made it the focus of an unofficial Adobe ColdFusion promo. James contributes a lot to the ColdFusion community, and they comprise a substantial portion of the community that surrounds CBR Network. Adobe ColdFusion just celebrated its 20th anniversary! (CBR does have an Adobe ColdFusion Summit 2015 Media Partnership, so be on the lookout for the official promo.. and see you in Vegas on 11/9!)
James would argue what seems obvious to me: He is a natural at all he is doing and discussing above. It is an understatement to say that the community will miss everything about this show and what it meant to us and our Fridays. I will surely miss what it added to CodeBass Radio. James truly set the standard for our programming.. both on-air and under the hood. Fortunately, James will not be leaving CBR Network. I’m going to need him over this next year!
Be sure to follow James on Twitter. You can follow James on Facebook and beyond via his professional photography at James Allen Visual. And hey.. after he’s been in retirement a while, try talking him into broadcasting his Speakeasy Sundays or a Parkour podcast. (You didn’t hear that from me..)
This post wouldn’t be complete without also expressing gratitude to Kirsty Allen, otherwise known as Radio Pickles. She was part of the show for a long time and put up with crazy things, such as being cornered by an on-air marriage proposal!
Thank you, James, for a stellar 5 years of corkers and stonker episodes of The 80sRewind Show with James Allen. And, as always, thank you to the CBR Network community for your ongoing support. We wouldn’t be who we are without you. We certainly wouldn’t have as much fun!
