Yes, I know it seems silly to make a special post celebrating 1 month. I won’t be doing this again until 1 year. OK, maybe 6 months. :) But, I am just stunned that this project only officially kicked off a month ago. It feels like a year! I’m completely in love with it, moreso than I thought possible when the idea entered my head back in May.
Since its inception, I have met some seriously talented and very cool people. The talent in our community, with regard to both music and development, is not to be taken lightly. A couple weeks back, I took a road trip to Dallas… about 22 hours one way. Among my road trip playlist were many songs sent to me directly and/or provided to me for CodeBass features by contributors. I kid you not when I say I listened to those tunes moreso than anything else in my library. You can hear a few of them via the CodeBass Contributor Radio player on the right side of the blog. I wasn’t yet even privy to the music on Joseph Labrecque’s community compilation CD.
Kick ass musicians.. skilled developers.. cool new friends.. awareness and enjoyment of, and occasional involvement in the groovy projects of others. THREE AWESOME TEAM MEMBERS! Fun has been had, and fun is scheduled to continue! Allow me to bring a few things to your attention while I have you here:
- Coming up Friday, THE COMPILERS. If you are unfamiliar with these guys, just wait until you see what they do! The “megaphone-based voting song” they played at their last show is only one of many seriously cool endeavors to be highlighted. If Ignite Denver is within your grasp, get out there and see them in action!

- Ooer… I’m just seeing that @seantheflexguy will be making a remote appearance at Ignite Denver. He quite literally kept the party going for myself and some friends while I was in Dallas, and he does his thing at least once a week. Check it out if you get a chance. He is scheduled to be featured here on CodeBass in August!
- Matt Gifford, who’s been kicking ass with #monkehRadio, has posted a ColdFusion Playlist on his blog to punctuate a contest he had on Friday. “If ColdFusion was a song, what song would it be?” There’s 1h 23m of good entertainment for you to download. DO IT. Keep an ear out for #monkehRadio, as well. Lots of entertainment as he and James Allen both take to the mic and spin some great tunes for all of us coding schleps on Twitter.
- If you know any talented FEMALE musicians / coders, please send them my way. I have a couple I can’t wait to feature, but circumstance keeps getting in the way. Not trying to fill a quota here, but I would love to mix it up a little.
- The Project Index continues to grow. You might want to bookmark it! I also swap out the tunes in the CodeBass Contributor Radio player now and then. Keep an eye on that. It will eventually get its own page, and the playlist will become more comprehensive once I decide on the best way to go about that.
- Lastly, I will be at CFUnited next week. I am already looking forward to music changing hands as I meet with a couple of people in person to talk about features planned for the future. I welcome more of the same! This project is NOT a profitable endeavor, and I am not a conference sponsor. So, see you in the bar. :)
